This Memorial Day, we were reminded of why we do what we do

In a shady park near Henderson, with American flags flapping gently in the breeze, families gathered for a day of remembrance, laughter, and love. We pulled up the truck, music softly playing, as kids raced over with dollar bills in hand and wide eyes fixed on the freezer window.

Among the crowd was a veteran named Mr. Thompson, a regular who lost his best friend in service years ago. He stood quietly watching children chase bubbles and parents snap photos. When we handed him his usual—The Red White an Blue Bomb Pop—he smiled and said, “This is what they fought for. Days like this.” His Dalmatian, Liberty, sat proudly at his feet, draped in a patriotic bandana, blue eyes shimmering in the sunlight. We gave her a special frozen bone treat—on the house, of course.

As we handed out cones and memories, we paused for a moment of silence with our community. The kids were still, the music softened, and Liberty howled once—almost as if she understood. It was a moment that stitched us all together.

At Vida’s Frozen Treats, we don’t just serve ice cream. We serve a little bit of hope, a scoop of nostalgia, and a whole lot of heart.
